Quick answer
We collect as little as we can. Our own statistics record which pages are viewed, without IP addresses, cookies or personal data. If you use the contact form, we keep your message to answer it and delete it within 12 months. If ads are shown, Google may set cookies, and visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first.
Who is responsible#
This site is run by the Accident Claim Facts editorial team. You can reach us through the contact form.
What we collect when you read the site#
For each page view, our own server-side statistics store the time, the page address, the referring website's domain (not the full address), the type of device (desktop, mobile or tablet), the country if our server is told it, and whether the visit came from a search engine crawler or another bot. To count unique visitors per day, we store a short code made from a random value that changes every day, your network address and your browser type; it cannot be turned back into your address and is useless after that day. We do not store IP addresses, full user-agent strings or cookies for statistics, and we do not build profiles.
The tools and search#
The deadline lookup, the fault-rule explainer and the site search run in your browser or on our server without storing what you enter. A result's settings may appear in the page address so you can share it; we do not log them separately.
The contact form#
If you send a message, we store your name, email address, topic and message so we can reply. We delete messages within 12 months. Please do not send details of your accident or injuries.
Advertising and cookies#
When advertising is switched on, Google AdSense may place cookies and process data to show and measure ads. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads, through our consent banner or a Google-certified consent platform. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. See our cookie policy for details and Google's own policies for how it uses data.
Your rights#
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its use. Because our statistics contain no personal data, in practice this concerns contact-form messages. Use the contact form to make a request.
Children#
The site is written for adults dealing with an accident. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes#
We update this policy when our practices change and show the date of the last review at the top of the page.
